PopCap had a complex, heavy and outdated site and needed a complete overhaul. With my super talented teammate Lorie Ransom at the helm, we brought PopCap.com up-to-date as a fully responsive and lightweight site.

Several talented artists volunteered to paint Plants vs. Zombies inspired munny dolls. We displayed them at the San Diego Comic Con then auctioned them off for charity, raising $11,000. I made this web page to showcase the dolls and encourage people to bid.

Saltbox Design Identity

ROLE: Design

Berg Danielson is a super talented carpenter who specializes in saltbox style chicken coops. His business needed an identity that was flexible – he envisioned the logo on his website, business cards, signs, t-shirts and decals for his truck. I came up with a primary logo design, as well as a wordmark.

PopCap teamed up with the ADA to give away free Plants vs. Zombies games for Halloween. This was a big collaboration among the print, video and web teams to create trading cards, posters, t-shirts and a music video. I did the logo, created the germ characters, and designed and built the website.

Rejected Game Names

ROLE: Design

COPYWRITER: Philip Smith

Every once in a while our hilarious PopCap blog writers come up with a list of game titles which, sadly, were never made. Sometimes I get lucky enough to do a few logos for them. Read the whole post here. It's funny.

Peryc's Tonic

ROLE: Identity, Design

One day I had a random craving for lemon soda but couldn't find one that was actually lemony and not too sweet. I decided to try my hand at making my own soda concentrate, and Percy's Tonic was born. This is a fun personal project that conveniently combined my love for cooking and design.

Zombie Greetings

ROLE: Identity, Design

COPYWRITERS: Curtis Kuhn & Philip Smith

The Plants vs. Zombies franchise wanted to add a fun tab to their facebook page. Users can send a Zombie Greeting to friends or post them on their wall. Without a doubt, Philip and Curtis's writing is really what made this great.

PopCap decided to sell all of their games in one giant bundle. I had free reign to do whatever I wanted for the landing page. I took an idea to one of our copywriters, Philip, and he ran with it. (Including his idea for a "fun button". Roll over it!) This ended up being a really fun illustration to create.

Oyster Rama

Oyster Rama

ROLE: Design

The Hama Hama Oyster Company is a family-owned and operated business on the Hood Canal. Every year they have a big party and donate all their proceeds to a non-profit. For their second annual "Hama Hama Oyster Rama" I made them a logo, poster, t-shirts and brochures.

Fourth and Battery

ROLE: Design

PopCap created 4th and Battery as a place to house their less polished (but still fun!) games. They wanted a website that was a little grungy and rough around the edges. I had one day to design this and I spent most of it painting with sumi ink. It was a great break from the computer.

Boredom Blaster

What better way to blast your boredom than by getting 3 games for only $25.95? Unfortunately this promotion was cancelled before the landing page ever saw the light of day, but it was fun to make.

Jolly Pet Sitting

ROLE: Identity, Design

This pet-sitting business wanted an identity that was playful and fun. I created a hand-drawn typeface and an illustration reminiscent of an off-register letterpress print. I also wrote a few slogans for their business cards.

Hama Hama Company Posters

ROLE: Design

The Hama Hama Oyster Company wanted some large, informational posters to hang on the wall outside of their shucking room so visitors can learn more about the business and the product.

Bennett and Ryan are two cool guys who elevate any party with their awesome DJ skills. They needed a website and let me do whatever I wanted, which is always fun and/or dangerous.

Video Backgrounds

ROLE: Design

LOGO DESIGN: Lorie Ransom

Every once in a while I have the pleasure of working with PopCap's video team. This time I got to illustrate backgrounds for a video series starring Snackers and Anchovy, two laser-eyed gem-zapping cat puppets. If you are confused or intrigued, check out the rest of their videos here.

Resume

About

I’m excited about web design, mobile application design, UX and front-end development. Although the web is my passion, I enjoy being able to jump around and work on all kinds of projects – from branding to packaging to illustration.

I love working with people; building relationships is very important to me. I’m a good listener and communicator. I always appreciate what others can teach me, both professionally and personally.

Outside of work I’m into cooking then eating what I cook, poking around in the garden, mixing up cocktails, hosting dinner parties, petting my cats, hanging out with my husband and working on our latest house project.
